Unnatural Tides is a short art film produced in response to the overproduction and consumption of plastics, that are ending up in our oceans, while afloat the plastic breaks down and enters the food chain polluting the oceans and all life on earth. With no adequate response they could remain there forever. More info about plastic https://tinyurl.com/y6squflr Judy Harington (producer) envisioned a performance, and subsequently this film, Inspired by a dream in which she was buried in plastic rubbish. The film expresses the horror of the overconsumption of plastic using a primordial fear, being buried alive and drowning in plastic. An Environmental Artist, Judy works in many different media and enjoys collaboration. The film formed part of a thought-provoking installation at Judy's BA (Hons.) Degree Show at Plymouth College of Art in June 2019, was shown at Plymouth Arts Cinema for Plymouth Art Weekender in September 2019 and was selected at the Jal Katha Festival in Mar 2020. Unnatural Tides trailer
Unnatural tides is a short experimental film. It is an exploration of plastic pollution and how it affects our planet's oceans. The audience is shown the perspective of a fish representing sealife as the ocean is bombarded with an inexorable tide of plastics. The flow of plastic starts small but grows into a torrent that covers the ocean and leaves the fish dead.
